Help your camera see the light

December 10, 2019

When it’s bright, add light.

A camera has only one goal: to even out the light in any scene. While that often works, in extremely bright situations, the camera will under-expose or “squint” just as we do. To prevent undersexposure, open the exposure compensation scale on your camera and move the indicator to the + side. Begin by adding +.67 (two-thirds) of a stop. If that’s not enough, check out the picture and dial it higher. How much is enough? You’ll know it when you see it.
