Black helps any color

Meter the bright spots to hold black.

Colors look best when you’ve slightly under-exposed the scene. Here’s what to do: 1. Select an interesting subject   2. Determine how much to include in the frame then crop by changing focal length or moving yourself  3. Choose an f stop that will provide enough depth-of-field sharpness (when in doubt, f8 is always your friend)  4. Manually focus  5. Use center-weighted metering on the bright spots to hold down the light level and the shadows will get darker, too  6.Use exposure compensation (+/-) to add or subtract light in small amounts
