Many thousand orchids are again on display and available for your enjoyment on an “up close and personal” basis. In fact they’re even larger in th 2023 edition since the majority of them are actually “Magnified”. Clear discs of varying sizes have been suspended in front of individual blossoms and large groups of orchids to get the average visitor closer to this wonderful world of colors, shapes and textures. Again this year, I’ve had the honor to teach the orchid show photo classes which meet from 8-11 am for three weeks. It’s great fun even on a Sunday morning directly after the unfortunate change to daylight saving time. All 17 students made to class just a few minutes on either side of 8 so we lost no time in reviewing the introductory powerpoint for the week. As I write this, you have a bit over 1 week to get to the show and I strongly recommend that you get there. With–or without–a camera.

About Jack
A classically trained musician since childhood, Jack Carlson always had the “ear” of an artist. It was only a short step to develop the artist’s “eye” as well.
The portfolio of this certified photographer reveals images that emphasize mood and composition. Their purpose is to present a feeling in addition to portrayal of person, place or thing. Sometimes that feeling is nostalgia; other times it is serenity.
Each photograph tells a story.
