The first measurable snow of the ’24-’25 season dropped around the old camera clubhouse just the other day so I decided to get flowers with snow on them pictures. The picture shows how well my idea didn’t work–even with a flash in the mix. Why isn’t the image a keeper? Easy. There’s no real subject in the frame. We were discussing this just yesterday morning during the final meeting of the Intro class. Just because the scene MAY look good, it often isn’t. As I was about to get back into the Camera Clubhouse, a small bird showed up near the pumpkin. NOW I had a subject that was photo-worthy.
I used a zoom lens at the 200mm setting with a slight bit of fill flash at 1 1/3 stops under exposure. There was no time to change the lens so as the old adage has it, “The best lens you own is the one on your camera when you’re out of time.”
