When creating silhouettes, don’t be afraid to stick your neck out

Sun creates silhouette.

Since the camera’s only goal is to even out the light in any scene, pointing it at the sun will cause a massive under-exposure for the subject. If that’s your intent, it will work every time. Add interest to the shot by dialing in a rather small aperture. You camera control people will want to know that this shot was taken at: ISO 200, f16 @ 1,000, e/v +.3, 52mm lens, Center waited metering.
