Using the right focal length

January 14, 2020

28mm lens is too short.

I drove past the Japanese Islands yesterday on the way back from a meeting at the Chicago Botanic Garden. Knowing that I had camera, lenses and a tripod in the car, I just had to stop. The4 first shots were taken with the lens that was on the camera: the 28mm. It seems a bit too wide for the island. The other lens in the bag was the macro which, I remembered, can be used as a regular lens when you’re not using it in close-up mode. I used it at 70mm to prevent a BMD shot. (That’s Boring Middle Distance for the uninitiated.)

Use a macro lens for standard shots too.
