The Benefits of an External Flash

March 15, 2019

Flowers glow in light from off-camera flash.

A flash unit that fits in the hot shoe of your camera will provide lots of options for adding light to a scene. The brand doesn’t necessarily need to be the same name as your camera (mine isn’t). Be certain that the new unit has a head that will rotate in addition to be angled up to 90 degrees. For even more options, get a coil-cord that will permit the flash to be used away from the camera.

Camera Settings: F11 @ 60th, 130mm focal length, -.3 e/v, ISO 200, WB Flash, Off-camera flash bounced off 5×8 white card 23 inches from floral subject, a friendly tripod
