Shoot in Black & White when there’s no color

April 18, 2018

On these overcast, gloomy days, look for texture and shapes. Once found, it’s time to turn on the monochrome setting if your camera has one. If not, use your computer to remove the color. There’s actually a greater range of gray-scale tones then in camera. Find areas of dramatic contrast in light levels but avoid large white spaces in the frame. Use matrix (aka evaluative) metering when light levels vary widely.
