There was some suet left in pretend log so I dumped it out for the enjoyment of the small brown birds that seem to be all around the Carlson Camera Clubhouse. During the time it took them to recognize (and enjoy) this mid-morning snack, I was able to get the tripod and lens set up. I dialed in a 200mm focal length at f8 (what else?) and went for coffee in the clubhouse kitchen. When I returned, one of these feathered friends had a mouthful so it was time to “push the button.” Set upo for a shot, then wait for the action. Start small–that’s why there are no eagles in the frame.
