Scale the light to the subject

May 11, 2020

Strong colors don’t wilt in light of the same type.

It’s easy for the details in small subjects to get overwhelmed (aka “blown out”) in very strong, harsh light. Remember small subjects=soft light. Everything has texture so look for side lighting to bring it out. The largest control of light is time. Get out early for small subjects and shoot at noon when colors are strong.

Small, soft flowers need the same type of light.
