Look for the Spot (metering pattern)

November 11, 2018

Spot metering works–sometimes.

I was out with a class yesterday (11.10) and happened to see a bird in a perfect frame. For once, I had enough lens to get the shot. While I don’t use it often, I decided on spot metering to silhouette the bird. This would keep the sky that’s reflected in the water blue. It worked. No polarizer and as always, no post production.

Try spot metering on a small subject. The underexposure could prove to be most interesting.
