Keep a macro lens on your camera when around the house.
Whenever I’m walking in the gardens around the CCC (Carlson Camera Clubhouse), I keep a macro lens on the camera. Why? Well there have been just too many times when there was (often) a small subject that would benefit from a macro lens. I actually have two micro (Nikon calls them that since the company was making microscopes long before they began to make cameras) lenses. One of them is a micro/macro zoom that goes from 70-180mm. It’s a two-touch meaning there’s a ring for focus and one for image size. The other is a fixed 105mm f2.8 and it’s the one I used for the shot. Keep a micro/macro lens on your camera. It works as a regular lens, too.
