Get the right lens for the shoot

June 9, 2019

10:30 pm, f1.4

The resident cat and dog around my office held several bake sales this spring in order to buy a birthday present for me. For quite some time, I’ve been commenting that a “fast” lens would be wonderful to have for inside/night photography. Since nothing was wider than 2.8, my wish was to actually have a lens in the “1’s” (i.e. f 1.8 or f1.4). Well, the boys came through–in grand style–and I’m now the proud owner of a 28mm f1.4. It’s just made to be shot wide open. You can get to f16 much cheaper than this lens so don’t think about a double-digit f stop at these prices. The cat had to really move his tail, but it worked.
