Due to overwhelming demand, a 3rd section of the very popular Photographing the Holiday Lights has just been added to the schedule. This class will meet on December 2 from 6:30 – 9 pm.

Class begins in the Lakeside Room in the Visitor Center where we discuss the best camera  settings  and composition angles that will give you  Then it’s outside with cameras to get some wall-worthy images.  The other sections are almost full, so register soon for the December 2 class. You won’t want to miss this fun and informative night at the garden.

Weekly Photo Tip

Watch that flash!

I was recently at a holiday party and decided to photograph some of the guests with the camera I carry when I don’t want to carry a camera. It’s a fixed-lens (35mm equiv. focal length) with a built-in flash that’s directly over the lens. The light from the flash goes directly into the subject’s eyes and creates the dreaded Red-Eye (aka retinal bounce.) Ask your subjects to look slightly down or a bit away from the camera so your pictures won’t look like this one.
