Exploring Thatcher Woods–with Cameras–July 7

Trailside Nature Museum in River Forest

You won’t want to miss this one day only chance to explore the Thatcher Woods. We’ll begin with an introductory powerpoint in the Trailside Nature Museum which is actually an 1877 Victorian mansion is a marvel unto itself and worth exploring.  Then will cover some photo basics before meandering down one of the many trails around the ponds that lead to the DesPlaines River. Water levels are currently quite high so be ready to capture really unusual images.

Wherever you sit, keep your camera dry.

River Forest, IL.

Weekly Photo Tip

All about color–or not!

Old shingles on the way to the scrap wagon.

When the day is gray and there’s no color in the scene, don’t shoot in color. If your camera let’s you dial in a black/white setting, do it. If not, remove the color when you’re back at the computer.  On the other hand, when there’s color, look for ways to add interest to it, then fill the frame. Always take time to See–Think–Act .

Add something of interest to blocks of color.
