Photographing in Natural Light starts at the CBG on Feb. 1

March 1 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Soft, subtle light on a gray day.

OK, I know what you’re probably thinking: Other than flash, isn’t all light natural? Yes, but there are varying levels of natural light and they must be handled differently from each other. Check out the syllabus for this class, then go to www.chicagobotanic.org/adulted to register for it. See you at the Chicago Botanic Garden for this class– no matter what the light level may be.

Photographing in Natural Light

Chicago Botanic Garden

February 2023 Jack Carlson, Photography Instructor

Each week will find us photographing differing light levels throughout the garden so camera and lens settings will need to be adjusted at each site. Selecting a subject then making appropriate camera decisions based on the available light is the foundation of this class.   Syllabus : February 1  Light of the Week: Even,    February 8  Light of the Week: Subtle,  February 15    Light of the Week: Dramatic,  February 22  Light of the Week: Inside. In addition to the major topics, we’ll discuss metering patterns, exposure compensation and ways to balance light on your selected subject. This class is both a new learning experience plus a great time that you won[t want to miss. Visit chicagobotanic.org/adulted to register for it. NOTE: THIS IS AN In-PERSON CLASS at the Chicago Botanic Garden in Glencoe
